MEET DR. TARA REED, FOUNDER

Just like many of you, I pushed myself to the point of exhaustion trying to do all and be all for everyone and everything around me. I didn’t want to let anyone down and to be honest, I enjoyed seeing the achievements, success and growth that resulted from working hard. Yes, I totally dismissed the saying “work smarter not harder”! However, the more I gave of myself and my time, the less there was for taking care of me. In fact, I was going so much that one night while walking to my car to leave campus, I physically stopped at a stop sign in the parking lot. During this time, I was pulling back-to-back all-nighters and paying for it with body aches, a stomach issues from a poor diet and exhaustion. I pushed right through the warning signs and caused self-destruction on my mind, body and spirit. The pandemic challenged this master multi-tasker’s my mindset that I don’t have to be doing something 24/7. In the beginning, my body’s reaction to not having to be in a million places and doing a million things made me think something was wrong. In fact, it was the first time in years that something was right! My blood pressure began to read normal, my spirit and mood lifted, and I felt more focused, creative and less stressed and more in control. The change I began experiencing felt powerful, but I still had to pass the lesson on challenges. My old habits of self-sabotage, fear of missing out, feeling alone kicked in but this time I spoke positive words, kept uplifting affirmations around me to read, listened to empowering speakers and practiced a daily habit of being mindful about my self-care, self-love, self-empowerment. To protect my new space and mindset, I implemented boundaries and saying no. Realizing it is my duty and no one else to take care of me first was liberating! I haven’t stopped creating and going for high achieving goals. This time around I’m armored with the power of one! One is me! Taking care of my needs first isn’t selfish! Being the best me allows others to receive the best that is within me!

I founded ONE P.E.A.R.L. MOVEMENT with a vision to make self-care, self-love and self-empowerment a daily healthy habit worldwide.

I started the #ONEPEARLMOVEMENT hashtag with a mission dedicated to creating opportunities to provide support, advocacy and resources for manifesting healthy narratives towards self-care, self-love and self-empowerment.

"Keep Moving! Keep Living One Purposed. Empowered. Authentic. Radiant. Life."
